Maintain or Reduce Nutrient Levels |
 |
|
Nutrient values can be altered with the Little River Pond Mill® circulators by
altering nutrient to carbon ratios, promoting immobilization by microbes,
through the adsorption or fixation of nutrients by clay minerals and other
elements (formation of complexes), getting the solution
aerobic quickly, and a variety of other methods.
- Nutrient values
Nutrient values in municipal effluent rapidly and significantly reduced.
Total nitrogen (TKN) values decreased from greater than 60 mg/L to
less than 1 mg/L, ammonia levels
decreased from greater than 40 mg/L to
less than 1 mg/L and phosphorus values decreased from
greater than 10
mg/l to less than 1 mg/l in less than 2 months.

- * USA hog processing facility,
intermediate, aerobic lagoon.
* Size: 30 surface acres with a 5 foot depth.
* Daily input: 2 million gallons of wastewater from processing of
16,000 hogs. The lagoon had the required number of 200 hp aerators in operation for
many years prior to pond mills installation, however they were not
working effectively so 18 pond mills were installed.
