Reduce Solids/Suspended Solids |
 |
|
- Solids reduction in municipal and livestock effluent have been significant.
Reductions in municipal waste water have seen TSS values of
greater than 200 mg/L plummet to
less than 10
mg/L in a couple months. In a livestock/poultry manure lagoon (Nebraska, USA),
the sludge depth was reduced from 8 feet to 1 foot in only 14 weeks.

Series 600.
- In a primary (solid/liquid separation) dairy lagoon near Bassano, AB, Canada,
in which the solids (including straw) had been separating out for approximately
1.5 years, the solids (~ 14 feet deep) lagoon had been liquefied in a couple
months. The solids side was so solid at the time of installation that a backhoe
was required to make a hole large enough for installing the 3 -

following links to show
pictures displaying the transition of the lagoon. The first two photos show
opposing ends of the lagoon
after 2 months, and the third photo shows an east
facing view of the lagoon after 4 months.
After 5.5 months, there was a minor
amount of floating waste on the west end of the lagoon. This remediation process would have benefited through use of more
machines to speed the process, however, once the process has 'caught up' to the
influent rate, excess machines may only be an electrical cost liability.

The pond mill was installed to decrease the sludge depth thereby
increasing the holding capacity of the lagoon and preventing the
requirement for a new lagoon.
